horiz shen 700x169 12.8 @ 11am ct: Optimizing Classroom Audio for Streaming Online InstructionRandy Tritz of Shen Milsom Wilke kicks off our next webinar day at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 8th to present “Can you repeat the question?”: Optimizing Classroom Audio for Streaming Online Instruction.” Solid, free, professional advice! Just register here before we go live.

In buildings old and new, education technology departments are opting to deploy integrated classroom-based technologies for streaming instruction online. Fueled by desire to remove all barriers for faculty – allowing them to teach as usual with no change to their presentation style – IT, AV and facility design professionals vet multiple classroom technology approaches, including camera angles and operation, lighting considerations and IT distribution issues.

But perhaps nothing is more critical to successful course capture than the effective recording of classroom audio. Beyond the lecturer, there are multiple sources of sound to consider for learning to take place, including local computers, additional instructors or panelists, and ultimately the student audience themselves.

Randy Tritz of Shen Milsom Wilke is a recognized expert in classroom audio design. He’ll take your audio recording questions and outline best practices, key considerations and the latest standards to ensure the best possible audio for lecture capture, including:

  • Lecturer microphone systems
  • Room geometry considerations
  • Audience sound-gathering options
  • System sharing with videoconferencing and other education technology
  • Boot-strap principles that can improve quality while keeping costs down
