6.25 @ 11am ct: Using Webcasting to Increase Enrollment in Challenging Economic Times

2009 June 23

Here’s the first of two webinars coming up on June 25.

Octavio Heredia from Arizona State University will present “Growth Amidst the Drought: Using Webcasting to Increase Enrollment in Challenging Economic Times.” As always, this webinar is free and delivered via Mediasite. Simply register before the event at www.sonicfoundry.com/register.

Most universities are presently facing state budget cuts, enrollment caps, new application limits and other restrictions due to the economic landscape.

Yet at the same time, the economic downturn has left students looking for cost-effective ways to continue their education, and corporations pining for alternatives to the traditional on-campus, week-long executive training.

The question: how to hold the line on expenses while providing academic programs for the people who need it most?

ASU is meeting the demand through online courses from its rapidly growing distance education, continuing education and professional development programs. Associate Director for Extended Education Octavio Heredia will share how ASU is:

  • reaching more students with less time, money and effort
  • using lecture capture to drive enrollment online
  • meeting the training demands of Fortune 500 companies without putting execs on a plane
  • achieving academic results through distance education that are competitive with on-campus performance

Octavio Heredia is Associate Director for Extended Education in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University. During his tenure since 2002, he has assumed several roles within the organization and currently leads the efforts of the School of Engineering in research and product development for innovative technology in higher education. As Associate Director, he is responsible for the planning, implementation and support of graduate Engineering online programs and custom corporate projects delivered across the world. The School of Engineering has been a Sonic Foundry client since 2002 and has produced over 10,000 presentations to date.
